I was supposed to be traveling tomorrow to an area called Bandarban, which is in the hill tracks around Chittagong. Because we had a vacation from school, several of the teachers and I had intended to spend a few days in the countryside of Bandarban; however, the military has imposed a curfew of this evening for the entire city of Chittagong. No one can travel in or out of the city, as they are imposing a police state during the elections, to quash any violence (sometimes elections can be a bit turbulent here). I was really upset about this, because I was excited to go traveling. However, I just heard about a huge mudslide in Bandarban (I've posted a link to an article below), so I am very thankful that it worked out this way. I just wanted to update everyone on what had happened, to take a moment and think of the people who died, and also to reassure everyone that I am safe and sound.
I don't believe in fate, but I'm glad that chance and circumstance kept me in the relative comfort of Chittagong!
